FARGO — The North Dakota Autism Center is working to increase understanding and acceptance of autism, highlighting its services as part of World Autism Awareness Day on Wednesday, April 2.

The center offers Applied Behavior Analysis therapy, as well as an enrichment program where families can participate in activities such as arts, crafts and science experiments daily at 4 p.m.

"It's really about the acceptance. We want to have an inclusive community for all individuals, and this is that day where we can really highlight what we do," said Brittney Hogan, executive director of the North Dakota Autism Center.

While awareness has grown, leaders at the center say they continue working to make Fargo a more welcoming place for individuals with autism.

To support its mission, the center is hosting an '80s prom-themed fundraiser at the Fargo Holiday Inn on Friday, April 11, from 5 to 10 p.m. Tickets can be purchased through the nonprofit’s website .
