Avocado has great growth potential in Paraguay and could become a key element of its agro-industry. In the last three years, avocado has recorded an annual increase of 25%, attributed to several factors, such as favorable climatic conditions, high yields per hectare, and a growing domestic and international demand.
Production is concentrated in three regions: Itapúa with 45%, Alto Paraná with 35%, and Cordillera with 20% of total production. Paraguay produces approximately 7,500 tons of avocado per year.
The avocado industry generates around $13 million per year, with a 40% profitability for consolidated producers, representing an economic opportunity for Paraguayan producers.
The sector's growth will include the adoption of new technologies and improvements in cultivation methods to optimize yields and product quality.
