Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan today held a video call with President of the Asian Development Bank Masatsugu Asakawa.

Pashinyan congratulated Asakawa on being appointed to the position of President of the ADB and invited him to visit Armenia after the pandemic is over. Pashinyan stated that the ADB is one of Armenia’s reliable partners and that the joint programs in various sectors and the support to the development of the private sector in Armenia attest to the effectiveness of the partnership. The Prime Minister also highly appreciated the financial and technical assistance that the ADB is providing to Armenia to overcome the economic consequences of the coronavirus.

Asakawa cordially accepted Pashinyan’s invitation to visit Armenia and emphasized that the ADB attaches importance to the deepening of the mutually beneficial partnership with Armenia. He welcomed the Armenian government’s anti-crisis programs and reaffirmed the willingness to continue to support Armenia through the partnership program and to overcome the economic hardships caused by the pandemic.

The Prime Minister and the ADB President also discussed issues on the agenda of cooperation between the Government of Armenia and the ADB. They exchanged views on the current state of the pandemic in Armenia, the policy on overcoming the social and economic consequences of the pandemic and the prospects for partnership in this context.
